Design

The design is refreshing. The laptop is good-looking and there is no denying that. The finish feels good and premium. The hinge is silvery and also makes the opening and closing pretty smooth.

The backlit keyboard is perfect for gaming. It just improves the aesthetics. The trackpad is pretty standard and nothing to boast about. For some reason, they have placed all the ports on the right-hand side. This might be good or bad depending on what you prefer.

For a 15.6-inch laptop, it looks sleek. It just weighs around 5.3 pounds which is pretty easy to carry around. If you are someone who travels a lot, you won’t be bothered by the weight here.

Hardware

The display is the first thing we look at. Here we have a 15.6-inch full HD widescreen LED-backlit IPS display. It comes with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and the IPS panel makes sure the viewing angles are great. This screen is a very good display for gaming and you’ll see what we mean once you get your hands on it.

There is no touchscreen here which is a shame. But at this price range it would be a little too much to ask for. For media consumption, this is one of the best displays you can get right now and that’s all we can say about the screen.

The Acer Aspire V15 VN7-591G-70RT laptop is powered by an Intel core i7 4720HQ processor that clocks at 2.6GHz. This is a 4th gen processor and is one of the top level chips for that generation. Not many 5th gen processors have taken over the market which makes this a good choice even today.

The processor can run any games without a sweat. Apart from games, you can rely on this processor to do pretty much anything. You can edit photos, videos or any other creative work. If you are a hardcore worker who codes and simulates stuff, this chip will treat you well.

There are only 8GB of DDR3 RAM. This might look like less memory for a gaming machine, but the fact is it can run pretty much all the games without any problem. They had to cut cost somewhere and decided to stop with 8 gigs as this will get the job done.

With Intel hyper-threading technology at place, multithrAcer Aspire V15 Nitro VN7-591G-70RT revieweaded applications run smooth. This is true for games also. Even when there are too many things happening in the frame, you can expect the RAM to maintain smooth performance.

Let’s talk about the biggie, the graphics card. Here we have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card which is a dedicated graphics card with a memory of 4GB. This is one of the best GPUs you can get in this market right now.

You can play games like Far Cry 4, GTA V, Battlefield titles, Assassins Creed titles and many others at very good frame rates. For a hardcore gamer, you cannot ask for more. This GPU is made for gaming and your results will speak for it.

You get a 1TB 5400RPM hard drive. There is a lot of space, no doubt. But the speed is not as good as some of the modern hard drives. This is not a deal breaker but a minor issue. Most of the users won’t even notice this.

The operating system that comes pre-installed is Windows 8.1. If you are looking forward to Windows 10, then we suggest you to reserve your free copy as the release date is just around the corner.

The battery life is pretty decent at around 4 hours. It should actually be even lesser when you play continuously for some time. For a full HD screen, we do think this is a decent battery life.

Connectivity is not an issue either. The Acer Aspire V15 VN7-591G-70RT supports 802.11a/c and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. There are 3 USB 3.0 ports that’ll surely come in very handy. Sadly, there is no optical drive just like in many modern devices.

Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-591G-70RT Review: Verdict

The laptop is perfect for gaming and any other work. It has the legs and you can push it to its maximum. For a device under $1000, the performance you’ll get is unmatched. If you are an avid gamer who wants to get a good gaming laptop at a decent price, then is a very good option.
