Design

The black and red color scheme you’ll find in this laptop makes it one of the most beautiful devices out there. The look and feel of this laptop are just premium, thanks to the gorgeous finish of this notebook. The keypad has red backlighting. It is a shame that you can’t program the colors but red does look good and goes well with the color scheme.

The typing experience is pretty standard with decent travel. The trackpad is fine and does what it is supposed to. But you will be better off with a nice gaming mouse you can pick up on Amazon.

The cooling system in the Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G-75RM) gaming laptop comes with a dual-fan setup. There are a couple of big vents and they help in the movement of air. We did find this to be effective and didn’t meddle with the performance of the laptop.

Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G-75RM) Specs

The Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G-75RM) is powered by an Intel Core i7 7700HQ processor. This processor is this generation’s equivalent of the i7 6700 chip that was so famous a year ago. Needless to say, it is a pretty impressive upgrade. The benchmark score of this processor makes it easily the best choice for gaming laptops. It scores around 8902 which is a very good score.

You can run most of the high-end apps and games without any problems. Speed is one thing you are going to be accustomed to with this gaming laptop. The memory department comes with 16 gigs of DDR4 memory. Though many feel that 32GB is the right amount of memory for a gaming machine, we think 16 is plenty. You can’t upgrade the memory here so ask yourself before you take the dive.

Multitasking is excellent. You will not feel any lag in performance even if you have a zillion tabs open in your browser (please don’t do that). You can’t upgrade the memory here so ask yourself before you take the dive.

As far as the storage is concerned, the Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G-75RM) comes with a 256GB solid state drive. This is both a good and a bad thing. The good thing is that this solid state drive is really fast. You can boot up the laptop in seconds, your apps and games will open at record speeds and everything will work so smoothly.

The bad part is that this is the storage you are stuck with. You are limited to 256 gigs of storage and there are no other drives in this laptop. Though this might be ok for some, some might feel like their hands have been tied.

Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G-75RM) laptopThe laptop comes with Windows 10 installed. This is the most recent operating system from Microsoft and it offers some neat support for games. With a lot of polishing over time, we can’t wrong with this operating system.

Graphics and connectivity

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is the graphics card in the Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G-75RM) laptop. This is a low-end GPU from Nvidia and comes with 4 gigs of dedicated video memory. You will still be able to play the recent games but you will have to tone down the settings a bit for a smoother gameplay.

Below are some famous games and their frame rates when tested with high settings. It should give you a good idea about the gaming capabilities of this laptop.

  • Far Cry Primal – 54 FPS
  • Hitman 35 FPS
  • Battlefield 1 – 69 FPS
  • Doom 69 FPS
  • Titanfall 2 – 62 FPS
  • For Honor – 68 FPS
  • Overwatch – 114 FPS
  • No Man’s Sky – 45 FPS
  • FIFA 17 – 187 FPS
  • Farming Simulator 2017 – 113 FPS
  • Civilization VI – 58 FPS

Even though the GPU is not a high-end one, the gaming tests prove that you can still do a lot. Considering the fact that this is a budget gaming machine, we really are happy with this performance.

The Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G-75RM) has a ton of connectivity options. You get all the everyday use ports like USB 3.0, USB 2.0, USB type-C, HDMI port, SD card slot, and also a headphone jack. Most of the modern day laptops are cutting ports in the name of design, but here we have access to all the important ports and we think that’s great.

The battery life claims here is around 6 hours. But real life usage might give us different results. On an average, you can expect the laptop to last for about 3 to 4 hours with some light load. If you are going to go for a serious gaming marathon, then that number will come down as well. It is better to have a power outlet around just to keep your gaming juices flowing.

There are so positives we’ve said about this gaming device in this Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G-75RM) gaming laptop review. But it is not without its minor cons.
