We had earlier reported that Apple’s A9 processor will be made by Samsung and Global foundries. But looking at the demand for Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, Global foundries have been made extra busy as they are also making the Exynos processor for the Samsung flagships.
KGI securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who is a very reliable source has said that Apple is now turning towards Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for the processor needs. It is to be noted that Apple has already worked with them for previous supplies.
Samsung will be very happy to see the growing demand for its latest flagships. Following the flop of last year’s Galaxy S5, they had to come up with something new in terms of design and managed to do just that. As an added bonus, they have now made Apple change its plan for its next processor. Though not great for business, employees inside Samsung will still share a laugh.
No More Bendgate?
The only thing that disturbed Apple’s success party last year was the Bendgate controversy. Youtubers made videos where they could easily bend the Apple iPhone 6 plus. Apple however said that it has received very less complaints from actual users.
To solve this issue, Apple will be using a material that 60% stronger than the material in the current generation phones. They plan to use the series 7000 Aluminum alloy for the next gen iPhones.
This new material is expected to be stronger and lighter. It also might finally make your next iPhone scratch-resistant. If this is to be true, a lot of fans will be happy about this news.
The next iPhone is also rumored to feature a DSLR quality camera, Force touch technology, light field imaging and also the latest A9 processor. It is also believed that Apple will increase its memory to 2 gigs of RAM which will be a great boost.
