This new ASUS MX27AQ is a 27 inch WQHD monitor from the house of ASUS. People prefer gaming monitors over others as the quality seems to be higher in the former. This new release also comes with a similar quality. Though the manufacturers don’t call it a gaming display, it can very well serve as one.
In this ASUS MX27AQ review, we are going to dissect this new piece of hardware and see it for its real worth. Are you looking for a good sized QHD monitor? Then this is a review that could be of some use to you. Read on.
The design of this display is very attractive. It comes with almost no bezels and people have been asking this for years. The sun dial stand at the bottom is solid and sturdy enough to hold the monitor without any stability issues.

The device looks thin even when looked from the sides. Not super thin like TVs but if you were searching for monitors you’ll know what we are talking about. The monitor can be tilted to the front and back to suit your needs. Despite the size, this fellow can fit in any room of yours without taking up too much space. Overall, it is a nice design that works well.
ASUS MX27AQ Monitor Specs
Let’s talk about the size first. This is a 27 inch monitor. For us this is one of the few sizes that are just perfect. It is not too big but isn’t too small either. The resolution of the display here is a whopping 2560 x 1440 pixels. That is a lot of pixels even for a screen this big. You can see pixels from a distance which is just great for the viewing experience.
The viewing angle is 178 degrees which is pretty good. It gives you the freedom to sit or lay down like you want and still enjoy quality pictures on the screen. A lot of monitors come with a viewing angle of 160 degrees while here it is an excellent 178 degrees.
The panel is also an AH-IPS panel. This is way better than the TN panels you’ll see in the cheaper monitors. The quality and the accuracy of colors are top notch thanks to this improved AH-IPS display.
The ASUS MX27AQ comes with an ASUS smart contrast ratio of 100,000,000:1 and brightness of 300cd/m2. This contrast ratio plays a very important role in the delivery of the actual picture. It enables the monitor to adjust the backlight luminance and achieve deep blacks and bright whites. This leads to life like visuals on the display.
This monitor also has the ASUS flicker-free technology which reduces the amount of flickers you see. This reduces the strain on the eyes which is great for long time viewing. There is also a blue light filter which filters the harmful blue light that comes from the monitor. People buy specific glasses that prevent blue light to avoid eye damage. Here no such thing is required.
The ASUS MX27AQ monitor also features Sonic Master technology. This technology combines hardware and software to deliver a clear, surround sound. Yes, you can get better sound with external speakers without a doubt but this one isn’t that bad either.
You can find all the essential ports at the back of the monitor and they are easily accessible. A small gripe we had was that there was no provision to mount it on the wall which is a shame for such a good monitor.
ASUS MX27AQ Review: Verdict
The ASUS MX27AQ 27 inch QHD monitor is a wonderful display for the price. You get QHD resolution, an AH-IPS panel and excellent sound within. This can serve you well both as a gaming monitor as well as a work display. Go get this one if you are looking for a QHD display that won’t break your bank.
