The Asus X751LAV-SI50501U has a big screen of 17.3 inches. With a screen this big, you can double it as your desktop. Watching movies and pictures can be exciting as it is such a big display. This laptop has been encased in a black chassis, which gives the device a professional look.
This machine is fairly thick in comparison to other laptops of this size – it has a dimension of 16.3 x 10.7 x 1.2 in (L x W x H). The machine weighs 6.2 pounds, so it can be heavy if you’re used to carrying a tiny laptop around. However, if carrying a little less than 7 pounds of weight doesn’t bother you, this machine is fully capable of going anywhere you may go.
The display in this laptop is 17.3 inches, which is big enough to enjoy watching movies on. Keep in mind that this 1600 x 900 resolution isn’t Full HD. If you had the 1080p display, you would be able to fit even more on the screen. Also, it is important to mention the fact that touch isn’t supported, but with a price this low, you can’t really complain about that.
Responsible for powering this laptop, you have the 5th generation Intel Core i5-5200U Processor. This processor has 3MB cache and a clock speed of 2.2 GHz. With Turbo Boost activated, the clock speed can reach 2.7 GHz. With a processor like this, you will be able to perform basic multitasking tasks. As long as you don’t plan on running nay of those power hungry apps or complex graphics editing apps, then you should be good with this laptop.
This laptop has 8 GB of DDR3L SDRAM. This makes it so that you will be able to quickly access those frequently used files. Running a few stuff at the same time won’t be a problem with this memory.
As far as storage goes, this Asus X751LAV-SI50501U laptop features a 1000 GB storage unit with a speed of 5400 RPM. With a storage space that is 1TB big, you will be able to store a large amount of music, movies, photos, and other files right on your laptop. If this isn’t enough storage for you, you can always use the cloud in order to store those important files. Well, with cloud storage you do get added security.
Unfortunately, if you’re a gamer, there’s some bad news. Due to the fact that there’s no dedicated graphics card in this laptop (you only have the Intel HD 5500 graphics chip built into the processor), it’s not exactly good for gaming. You won’t be able to play those demanding games like GTA 5. And if you did try, even on low settings, you’d get around 20 FPS. If you like Minecraft, however, you’re in luck, because on high settings, you’ll get +35FPS.
The Asus X751LAV-SI50501U comes with a nice set of ports that will allow you to plug in your favorite peripherals. You have one HDMI output, three USB 3.0 ports, an RJ-45 port that you can connect a network cable to. If you don’t want to connect a network cable, you have the WiFi adapter.
On the right side, you’ll find a DVD burner installed. There’s a SD/MMC card reader included, so you will be able to use memory cards. The Operating system that comes with this laptop is Windows 10 Home Premium. The keyboard does not have a backlit feature. It might look a trivial thing, but we’re sure it’ll drive some people nuts.
Asus X751LAV-SI50501U Review: Verdict
The Asus X751LAV-SI50501U is decent enough and might just be a viable option for you, as long as you’re not a gamer. The price/performance ratio is good. The 17-inch display screen is nice to watch movies on, but a display of this size will make for a bulky unit. If you’re looking for a laptop for your home or office, then The Asus X751LAV-SI50501U might just be for you.
