Design

The Zenbook Flip has an amazing design, making it look like an expensive laptop.  The aluminum shell is definitely an eye catcher, but the star of the show would be the touchscreen display. The screen folds 60 degrees into tablet mode. That’s pretty amazing, right?

Of course, the tablet mode doesn’t beat the conventional tablet, but it’s still pretty cool. You can put it in “Tent” mode and have the laptop stand on its edges, which is useful for watching movies in bed or on a plane.

The laptop is thin at only 1.37cm, but don’t let this fool you, it has plenty of features and ports, which we will be talking about later on in this review.

The 13.3-inch screen is nice – on this 1080p display, everything is pin-sharp. The vibrant IPS display floods your screen with strong contrast and rich colors. The touchscreen is as responsive as it should be.

Since you can flip the laptop in tent mode, and the fact that it has a strong contrast, this laptop is perfect for watching movies, doing office work, and other important stuff that requires clear images.

This machine is powered by Intel’s M-series processors. The ZenBook is aimed at individuals that are looking for a device that is light and thin, making it easy to carry around. It is capable of having lots of tabs and programs open all at once. It also uses passive cooling, so there are no noisy fans.

As for the Geekbench scores, this laptop received 2,335 (single-core) and 4,723 (multi-core). It has a PCMark score of 2,274. If you’re a real power user, this one might not be good enough for you – you’ll need something with a Core i5 or i7, but if you take that route, you’ll miss out on the thing and light laptop as those have a tendency to be thicker and heavier.

With the Skylake Intel Core M3-6Y30 Processor, up to 8GB memory and 512GB Solid State Drive, this laptop starts up within seconds of turning it on. Unlike other laptops in the class, this one is built for photo and video editing while you’re out and about.

Speaking of being out and about, the battery life is reasonably good, which is surprising. It can manage 7 hours 37 minutes with a 57% brightness, running through a cycle of 10 minutes of web browsing and 5 minutes of video.  After 2 hours of web browsing, you’ll notice around 20% depletion. Looking at the battery life, you should be able to get through a full working day without having to charge it. If you go for higher-resolution screen options, the battery life will be reduced.

With an all day battery life, you will be using the trackpad and keyboard longer This is why they put special care into developing a nice ergonomic full-size keyboard and an extra wide touchpad. There is enough responsiveness and comfort here, so you can get your job done.

As for storage, you have 512GB SSD, which should be more than enough. If you need more, you could always hook an external HD up to it.

In this laptop, you have quite a bit of connectivity options. You have 1x Gen 1 USB 3.1, 1 type-C, 2x USB 3.0, 1x Micro HDMI, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. These are some pretty good options, which should make your daily life easier.

ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA-DBM2T Review: Verdict

The ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA-DBM2T is slim, light and highly portable. It is a great option for the modern professional that doesn’t want to spend half of their paycheck on a laptop. The main benefit of this laptop would be the thin and light profile. If you use it in tablet mode, it doesn’t feel like a laptop at all, but you will still have the power of a nice laptop.

If you’re currently looking for a cheaper convertible laptop with a long battery life and strong durability, then this Zenbook has you covered.
