Design

This desktop is easy on the eyes. The beautiful design with a nice, soft black surface will fit nicely into every home. It isn’t huge, so it doesn’t take up a whole lot of desk space, giving you more elbow room for souvenirs, picture frames, snacks, or whatever else you feel you need on your desk. However, don’t let this small case fool you – there’s a whole lot of power packed inside it.

The Dell Inspiron i3650-0635SLV has a 6th generation Intel Core i5-6400 processors and you cannot forget about the quad-core release offering 2.7GHz clock speed. With turbo speed, the clock speed can increase to 3.3Ghz. Looking at those aspects right there, it is obviously a good mid-range desktop processor. The i5-6400 isn’t going to walk away from you and give up when you open up more complex applications.

The CPU Mark score for this desktop is 6600. This is a pretty good score for a CPU and talks miles about what it can do for you. If you are a pro who uses heavy apps like Photoshop, simulators or video editors, this processor will surely give you a smooth operation.

As far as the storage options run, you have the 1TB 7200RPM 3.5” hard drive that is connected to SATA 3 interface. 1TB is a whole lot of storage – that’s more than enough to store music, video games, pictures, and various other files.

However, there’s a small disadvantage to this hard drive and that’s the fact that it will have slower performance compared to the solid-state drives. The upside to this is that you can change the current drive if you don’t like it. And introducing an SSD will improve your user experience by a big margin. So we do recommend you do that.

The memory in this desktop is one 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz stick. On the mainboard, there is one slot that is free. This means you can extend it up to 16GB, but 8GB should be more than enough. Still though, if you want to upgrade it, the option is always there.

And there’s more…

When it comes to the ports, you have a total of six USB ports. On one note, that is plenty of USB ports, but on another note, many of the other desktops have a total of ten. However, we believe six will work out just fine.

Four of those ports are USB 2.0, while the other two are USB 3.0. You also have VGA and HDMI outputs, so you can plug in an external monitor, if you need. You can use HDMI for better image quality.

While the desktop has a Gigabit RJ-45 port for those who prefer a cable, it also has a built-in bgnWiFi card with Bluetooth 4.0 support. Also included, you’ll find a tray-load DVD burned, along with a memory card reader for SD and MMC.

As far as gaming goes, if you’re into hardcore gaming, the Dell Inspiron i3650-0635SLV might not be suitable for you. An affordable desktop with dedicated graphics naturally makes for a bad gaming experience.

The Intel HD 530 integrated graphics will allow you to play those less demanding games on medium settings and on low settings, you can play some newer ones such as GTA 5 and Fallout 4 with 30FPS. However, the good news here is that if you want better gaming capacities, on the mainboard, you’ll find a free PCIe x16 slot for a graphics card.

Out of the box, the desktop comes with a wired keyboard and mouse. However, it does not include a monitor. It comes with the Windows 10 home operating system. We do recommend you to get a monitor that supports touch input. This is because of Windows 10 as it is optimized for touch.

Dell Inspiron i3650-0635SLV Review: Verdict

Overall, the Dell Inspiron i3650-0635SLV is a decent computer. It has a nice price on it, making it affordable for many users out there. We also cannot forget about the big storage drive it comes with. So if you are looking for a classic desktop from Dell that can take care of your daily load, then this is it.
