The Dell Inspiron i5378-7171GRY is a nice 2-in-1 model that was built for work and play. It is quite stylish, regardless of the position it is put in. Plus, it’s small enough so that you can easily slip it into your back and due to the 13.3-inch screen, you have enough room so that you can use it for hours, without dealing with eye fatigue. The bezel in this display is pretty slim. This means there are fewer distractions and you can focus on the screen.
This laptop has been designed with an intention to impress. The dark exterior finish has been matched with a beautiful matte black inside. The design is attractive with a nice professional looking appearance – it looks amazing for any occasion.
Dell Inspiron i5378-7171GRY Specs
In this laptop, you’ll find a 13.3-inch Full Display with IPS touchscreen. It puts off a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution with nice 178-degree vertical and horizontal viewing angles. While looking at this screen, you’ll find a decent contrast, vivid colors and a bright, clear image. Needless to say, it is great for watching movies and TV series.
The processor is a nice advantage. In this laptop, you have the Intel Core i7-7500U, which comes from the family of the latest 7th generation of Intel processors. This laptop has a clock speed of 2.7GHz and with turbo boost, 3.5GHz. With two cores, the i7-7500U is a super fast notebook processor – some have even compared it to the mid-range desktop CPUs. When it comes to running heavy programs, like Photoshop, it will be like a breath of fresh air.
Taking a look at the system memory in this laptop, you’ll find 8 GBs of DDR4-2400 RAM. It’s in the form of a single channel, which means there’s only one memory stick included in the only slot that is available. This isn’t that big of a deal, so you shouldn’t worry about it too much. Still, if you would like to upgrade, you can – it will allow you to upgrade to 16GB of memory, just make sure you go for one 16GB stick and not 2x8GB though.
Storage, graphics and other stuff..
The storage space is pretty good. It has a 256GB solid state drive installed. The M.2 SATA SSD is more reliable, quicker alternative to the normal hard drive. Yes, the other model has a 1 TB HDD installed, which is 4 times the space, but we don’t think this justifies the loss in speed and support you would get out of the SSD.
When it comes to the video card in the Dell Inspiron i5378-7171GRY, it’s integrated. You have the Intel HD 620 Graphics card. Playing games, especially new titles like Battlefield 4 isn’t going to be easy. However, you can have some fun still, with low-end games like Minecraft and some MMOs.
At the end of the day, carrying this Dell Inspiron i5378-7171GRY laptop around isn’t going to be too complicated, because it only weighs 3.4 pounds. Speaking in carrying it around, if you’re going to do that, you’re probably curious about the battery life. With the 3-cell, 42 Whr battery pack, you can get up to 7 hours. To many, this number is a little disappointing, but it’s a decent amount of time.
As far as the ports run, you have a total of three USB ports in all. You have one USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0s. On top of this, you have an HDMI-output, which allows you to hook up an external monitor. If you want to hook the laptop to the Internet, you’ll do so through the WiFi adapter – it does not contain an RJ-45 port, so you cannot use a wired network.
This laptop doesn’t have an internal optical drive. However, you can get an external drive that hooks to the laptop through a USB. The notebook does have an SD card slot which is a relief to many.
Dell Inspiron i5378-7171GRY Review: Verdict
This laptop provides balance on many fronts. The performance is impressive and is definitely worth the money. If you’re looking for a decent laptop for working at home or using to browse the web on a daily basis, then the Dell Inspiron i5378-7171GRY might just be a good choice.
