The laptop comes in a nice dark shade of gray with a red Dell branding. You can see the red color scheme throughout the laptop in placing surrounding the touchpad and also in the speaker grill as well. The keyboard looks great with neat fonts and enough spacing in between the keys. The key travel is nice and perfect for typing. The touchpad uses Microsoft’s precision touchpad drivers and gives a nice experience.
You can see a few vents on the sides and at the back side for letting the heat out. There are two fans that take care of heat dissipation. The cooling system in this laptop is not as elaborate as we have seen in some other laptops but is good enough to get the job done.
The laptop with dimensions of 15.7 x 10.43 x 0.97 inches, weighs around 5.66 pounds. This is slightly heavier than most of the laptops in the same size category. But practically you may not notice a lot of difference when handling it.
Dell Inspiron i5577-5335BLK-PUS Specs
The display on the Dell Inspiron i5577-5335BLK-PUS is a 15.6-inch LED-backlit display that comes with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This one is a TN panel and not an IPS as one would expect. The resolution gives you really sharp text and pictures. You can enjoy watching movies and TV series on this display as the colors are pretty good.
The display is also anti-glare which means that you won’t be seeing a lot of your reflections on the screen. This is a good thing if you use your laptop in a lot of well-lit situations.
The audio output is better thanks to the Waves MaxxAudio Pro and the inbuilt sub-woofer. You can enjoy even tiny details in sounds and it tries really hard and succeeds in keeping sound away from distortions at high volumes.
The Dell Inspiron i5577-5335BLK-PUS is powered by an Intel Core i5 7300HQ processor. This processor comes with 4 cores and is one of the most powerful upper mid-range chips from Intel’s Kabylake lineup. The processor operates at a regular clocking frequency of 2.5GHz but if you need a lot of power, it can clock to a maximum of around 3.5GHz.
This Intel chip gets a CPU benchmark score of around 5900 which is pretty good. But what good are benchmarks in real life? In real life usage, the processor does really well and manages to run pretty much any applications without breaking a sweat. Even complex apps like video editors and IDEs run fine without any performance issues.
There are 8 gigs are DDR4 2400MHz RAM for memory on this laptop. This might not sound like a lot of memory in this modern day but is more than enough for the majority of the users. But how does that work on a gaming laptop? Most of the gaming load is taken care of by the GPU, so the need for more regular memory does diminish when you have a good GPU in place.
But talking about the memory in place, this is so much better than the DDR3 RAM we are used to in the past. You can run multiple apps at the same time and there is no lag whatsoever. You can upgrade the RAM if you think you need more memory but for the time being, you should be good with this RAM here.
Graphics, Storage and more…
The next thing we are going to talk about in this Dell Inspiron i5577-5335BLK-PUS review is the GPU. Here, we have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 with 4 gigs of dedicated video memory. This is a high-end graphics card that is based on the Pascal architecture. To put things in perspective, it is one of the best mobile graphics card solutions out there.
With this GPU in place, you will be able to play even the latest and greatest games out there. Games like Wolfenstein II, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Destiny 2, Prey, ELEX, The Evil Within 2, FIFA 18 and other major titles run smoothly without any issues even at high settings. Games like WoW and LoL also run fine and you don’t see any lag on the display is very important for competitive gaming.
We have a 256GB solid state drive as our only storage option here. Though this might not look like a lot of storage, the solid state drive is a great choice to go with. It gives you much better performance and just takes the speed of your laptop to another level. The boot up times are just in seconds, your apps and games load super fast, and generally, there is no delay when you want to do even the smallest of actions. It comes with Windows 10 pre-installed as well.
With a 6-cell 74WHr battery in place, the battery life is pretty decent. With a light load, you should be able to squeeze out 6 to 7 hours of battery life. This number comes down rapidly if you do some serious gaming but that’s how all gaming laptops work. Find a power outlet if you want to do gaming marathons.
There is a multitude of options when it comes to connectivity. There are 3 USB 3.0 ports for data transfer, an HDMI port for connecting a higher-end device, an Ethernet port for wired internet connectivity, an SD card slot, and also a headphone jack as well. The laptop also supports all the latest wireless standards so no problem there as well.
