HP 17-p010nr review

Not all laptop come with a big screen real estate. Most people go for power, but a lot us do have the need for a good media consumption device. In this HP 17-p010nr review, we are going to discuss this laptop that might actually solve those two problems.

This new offering from HP comes with a pretty decent set of specs and a neat 17.3-inch screen. This notebook finds its way to the mid-range category. The pricing is also impressive which makes this laptop very affordable. Design

The laptop comes in a matte black color with the logo in the middle. The first impression is good for a big laptop. One thing to note is that there is only one color scheme throughout the body. It is black outside, and when you open the lid, it is black inside as well. This brings in some uniformity and has helped HP save some cash.

We have a full keyboard that comes along with a number pad. The trackpad is decent and responsive. With measurements of 10.99 x 16.02 x 1.59 inches, this is one huge laptop. It weighs around 6.2 pounds which is not bad for the size. Portability takes a hit, but hey we can’t ask for everything, can we?

HP 17-p010nr Specs

The first and the foremost thing that grabs your attention is the 17.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen display. This display has an HD resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels that is better than the traditional HD displays. This resolution helps to keep the pixel density intact.

The picture quality is impressive with decent viewing angles. You can enjoy media consumption on this laptop without any issues. The display is perfect for watching movies, playing games and even for work as the widescreen offers more real estate than most of the displays.

HP 17-p010nr laptopThe HP 17-p010nr notebook is powered by an AMD A6 processor. This A6 6310 processor is a quad-core processor that comes with a clocking frequency of 2.4GHz. It is made for entry-level devices, but it can provide all the power you need.

It runs the operating system smoothly. You can run applications like browsers, office apps, video and photo editors without any issues. The processor can deliver for the light users. The mid-range users will manage with this chip just fine. The processor is well complimented by the memory department.

We have 6GB DDR3L SDRAM for memory. This may not look like a lot of RAM, but is more than enough for most of the users these days. You can multitask without any problems. Running multiple applications is now smoother, easier and a lot faster.

There is a 750GB SATA hard drive. This is a decent amount of space for you to store all the things you want. It may not be the fastest of drives, but that is perfectly fine at this price point. The hard disk also comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1, 64-bit version.

If you are one of those people who absolutely hated Windows 8.1, then we have some good news. You can upgrade to Windows 10 for free for the first year. This new OS comes with several new features that make the experience a whole lot better. Do the upgrade and enjoy the best of Windows yet.

The graphics card here is an integrated AMD Radeon chip. This graphics card enables you to play some mid-range games without any problems. If you are casual or an occasional gamer, you won’t have any problems. But if you are an avid gamer, then you need to look at better (and expensive) gaming machines.

The battery life is another concern for almost all of us. With a big screen to power, the battery lasts for about 4 to 6 hours, and that is very cool in our opinion. With a more optimized usage, you can get more out of it.

There is a USB 3.0 port that is both reliable and speedy. The super multi DVD drive will also be useful in burning DVDs when needed. The laptop also supports wireless connectivities like Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11b/g/n.
