Design

At first glance, the laptop looks pretty stylish – it comes to you in a shady color. The lid is made of matte plastic with a nice chalky smooth finish – there’s a dark chrome HP logo on the lid. There’s a eat green and black honeycomb pattern adorning the palm rest of the laptop as it gradually transitions into a nice black color that covers the rest of the keyboard deck. On top of the desk, there’s a large speaker grille.

There’s a big keyboard on this laptop, which many of you will enjoy. The screen in this laptop is that of 15.6 inches. This HP Pavilion 15-au030nr laptop is desktop friendly and great for entertainment purposes. The screen is nothing to turn away from – it offers full-fledged 1080p with IPS technology, making for perfect viewing angles.

We also feel the need to mention that this is a touchscreen. This also means that your experience with Windows 10 will be 10 times better. Basically, this laptop has one of the best configurations you can get in terms of display. What about the other specs?

Responsible for powering this laptop, you have the Intel Core i7-6500U, a dual-core processor that is clocked at 2.5GHz. If you were to turn Turbo Boost on (yes, that is available with this laptop), then you would have a clock speed of 2.5 GHz. This is one of the most powerful chips being offered in this line for laptops, so you will find advantages in the performance, as well as the battery life.

Doing simple tasks, such as multimedia playback, office work, and web browsing won’t be a problem at all. You can also handle complex applications for tasks such as design, photo editing, and more. If that’s not enough, the 12GB of DR4-2133 SDRAM in this laptop will make you feel as if you’re unstoppable as you will be able to multitask like never before.

Since this laptop doesn’t have a dedicated graphics card in it, it will not satisfy hardcore gamers. It has the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 in it. So, unfortunately, you’re not going to find gaming performance here.

However, it should be able to run some of the modern games on low settings. For example, if you were to play less heavy titles like FIFA 16 and The Sims 4, it should be playable. So, in short, while this laptop is gaming capable, it isn’t gaming focused.

With the battery (2-cell, 41WH), you should get up to 7 hours on it. However, if you are a power user, expect 6 hours. Regardless, that is pretty good battery life for a laptop.

As far as the storage goes, you’re looking at a terabyte worth of storage. This can help  you in storing a lot of files. There is no solid state drive in this laptop which is a bummer. It could have increased the performance by a big deal but this works too.

When it comes to connectivity on this HP Pavilion 15-au030nr notebook, you have two 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port available. You also have an Ethernet port, which makes for a wired connection, an SD card reader, a good HDMI port that is great for external displays, a wireless card, and the normal audio/mic jack. It comes with an optical drive for those of you that are fond of DVDs and music CDs.

HP Pavilion 15-au030nr Review: Verdict

The HP Pavilion 15-au030nr is a decent laptop for those of you that are seeking performance and the price is unbeatable. On this laptop, you can use image editors, developer apps and virtualization software without issues. You can also run mid-range games which is cool. If you are looking for a powerful laptop in a budget, then this could be your next laptop.
