Design

When you put this desktop in your office, it’s so sleek and matte black that you probably won’t even notice it sitting there. In fact, it’ll probably blend in with everything else.

There is nothing great about the design here. It comes with a keyboard and a wired mouse. Both of them are standard and do what they are supposed to. You will remember that there is no monitor in this setup. This means you will have to get one separately.

HP Pavilion 510-p030 Specs

HP Pavilion 510-p030 desktopIf you don’t want to have to deal with lag, then you’re staring at the right tool. This HP Pavilion 510-p030 desktop has an Intel Core i7-6700T processor in it that is responsible for running the show. It has a heavy quad-core chip with a clock speed of 2.8GHz and when turbo is on, the clock speed reaches 3.6GHz.  Looking at the CPU Mark score, it receives a total of 9000 points, which is a great score. With a score like this, you can keep those demanding programs running.

In this desktop, you’ll also find 12GB DDR4 RAM – 4GB + 8GB. If you want, you can upgrade the RAM to a maximum of 32GB. This memory may not be much but still can help you run a handful of applications at the same time.

Looking at the storage in this desktop, you’ll probably be amazed to learn that it has a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive. With a hard drive this big, can you imagine al of the files and software you will be able to store on it?

However, in terms of performance, this hard drive isn’t as fast as solid state drives. It’s not that bad of a situation though, because you could easily install SSD and enjoy much faster transfer rates.

If you’re a gamer, there are better choices than this desktop right here. This desktop suffers from having an integrated graphics engine. Mind you, the Intel HD 530 isn’t that big of a disaster, but it does mean you will have to go easy on those settings.

Take Grand Theft Auto 5 as an example with 720p resolution, you’ll have 25 frames per second. That’s not desirable if you are a hardcore gamer. With other demanding games like Far Cry 4, don’t look for better performance. However, if you’re into games like League of Legends and World of Warcraft, this desktop should do just fine.

Also, the motherboard has a free PCI-e x16 socket, so you can install a dedicated graphics card in it which is something you can do in the future.

There is a lot of scope for using external devices with the HP Pavilion 510-p030. It has a total of six USB ports. Two of them are USB 3.0s and four of them are USB 2.0s. You can use either the VGA or the HDMI-out in order to connect an external display (up to two simultaneously) to the desktop. It has a Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 for networking, but you can also use the WiFi card for a wireless Internet connection. This desktop also comes with a DVD burner and a media card reader installed in it.

As for the PSU, it is a tad bit on the weak side as it’s rated at 180W. If you plan on installing a graphics card or more drives, you may want to update the PSU.

HP Pavilion 510-p030 Review – Verdict

The HP Pavilion 510-p030 is a sweet little desktop and is great for power users. If can work its way through a wide range of software  pretty much everything, including Photoshop and other image/video editors. You don’t have a snappy SSD, but that’s not that big of a deal, because you can install one yourself. All round performance is also snappy. If you’re looking for a decent desktop at this price range, this one would be the one for you.
