Huawei Announces New Phones: P8 and P8 Max

Huawei ascend p8

The Huawei P8 is the latest phone from the company which is expected to make the next Nexus device. The new P8 comes with a 5.2 inch full HD screen and a sleek body which is just 6.4mm thick. They come in mystic champagne, titanium grey, gold and carbon black.

The predecessor to this phone, the Ascend P7 was a well received phone among reviewers who did see some scope for improvement. This new model has a slightly different design with rounded edges. With an improved camera and hardware, this phone will aim to do better than its previous siblings.

Specs

The P8 is powered by a Kirin 930 processor which is made by Huawei. This processor has 8 64-bit cores which includes 4 Cortex A53 cores at 2GHz and 4 Cortex A53 cores at 1.5GHz. Though the Kirin processor haven’t carved a name for themselves, it should good enough as it has found its way to their latest phone.

The memory department also comes well equipped with a 3GB RAM which should do well. As far as storage is concerned, it starts from 16GB. Users have the option of expandable storage so if you are a memory card guy/girl, you’ll be good.

The camera at the back is a 13MP shooter with optical image stabilization while the front camera is 8MP. Huawei has packed their software with a lot of modes which will make your shooting experience better but they all can be attained via third party tools as well.

The battery here is a 2,680 mAh battery which should do well considering the fact they only have a full HD screen. But a lot of battery tests in the near future will tell its fate. The P8 runs Android lollipop out of the box which is a pleasant surprise for new consumers.

The Phablet

For people who love a bigger screen, they given the phablet option as well. This P8 Max comes with a huge 6.8 inch screen with a full HD display. Not much difference is there in specs except for the battery which is a 4,360 mAh battery.

Availability

Both the P8 and the P8 Max will be available in the US from May while UK and other European countries will get it later this April. The smaller version will cost around $530 and the bigger brother will cost you around $581.
