With a price tag of a little under $500, you might be wondering what it has to offer. Some of you might be under the impression that you “get what you pay for,” and while for some, this may be true, is this true about this particular Dell? Let’s find out in this Dell i5368-1692GRY review.

For a laptop that is under $500, you wouldn’t expect much as far as the design goes. However, it’s still really cool and light in weight! It only weighs 3.4 pounds. It has an aluminum body that just shouts “look at me, I’m a premium laptop.”

While the keyboard isn’t backlit, it’s comfortable, so if you type on the laptop for a long period of time, it’s not going to hurt your hands. This isn’t your average everyday laptop – it’s a convertible laptop. This means you can flip the screen and have the screen over the keyboard so that you can use it as a tablet.

Or, if you like, you can leave it half way in order to create a nice stand that will come in handy when you want to place the laptop on the kitchen counter.

In this Dell i5368-1692GRY laptop, you have a 13.3 inch Full HD LED touchscreen with TruLife technology offering wide viewing angles. This is the perfect laptop for both watching high definition movies and editing lines of code.

As far as the performance goes – in this laptop, you have the sixth generation Intel Core i3-6100U processor. It’s a dual-core processor, so it isn’t all that bad. It works at a maximum speed of 2.3 GHz with a total of four threads. It has 3MB of Intel’s latest generation Smart cache.

Along with this, you have 4GB of RAM and that right there is where things get a bit more interesting with the laptop.  You see, when we say 4GB of RAM, we aren’t talking about the normal DDR3 RAM, we’re talking about the latest generation DDR4 SDRAM that runs at 2133 MHz. That’s faster than the previous edition, by the way.

With a RAM like this, you will be able to handle multiple apps all at one time. If you’re familiar with laptops, you probably noticed that there are some out there that come with the DDR3 RAM still, so the fact that there’s an upgrade to the RAM in this laptop may be impressive, considering the price and everything.

If you want more than 4GB of RAM, Dell made it so that you can upgrade the RAM up to 8GB, which is pretty good. You can use 4GB to handle 3-4 programs running at the same time, but if you’re a hardcore user, then upgrading it to 8GB of RAM would be a good idea.

There’s more…

As far as gaming goes on the Dell i5368-1692GRY, it’s obvious that Dell didn’t have video games in mind when they designed this laptop because of the integrated Intel HD 520 graphics card. For stuff like video and image editing, this is a good graphics chip, no doubt. But when it comes to gaming, it’s not that great. For latest games, you are going to get some unsatisfactory frame rates. Some games, however, like Overwatch, will give a decent performance on low settings.

Looking at storage, you have a total of 1TB. In most cases, that is more than enough to save movies, music, pictures, and documents. It can also be a safe place for all your private stuff too. The storage runs at the standard 5400  rpm, which should be more than enough for most users. However, if you are looking for faster storage speed, you may want to upgrade to a good SSD module.

It features a 3 cell battery, so you should get up to 5 hours of battery life. To be honest, that all depends on what you’re doing on the laptop. If you are a light user, you may even get more juice out of it.

As with most convertible laptops, this one doesn’t have a DVD tray on it. However, it does have an HDMI output, 3 USB ports, the standard audio jack, and an SD card reader. It also has built-in WiFi connectivity as well as a high definition HD webcam and Bluetooth.

Dell i5368-1692GRY Review: Verdict

It is obvious that the Dell i5368-1692GRY would be a good choice if you’re looking for the latest generation RAM, lots of storage space, a sleek design and a Full HD display. The battery life is great as well. Overall, we can’t see ourselves pointing you towards any other model if you’re looking for an affordable convertible laptop for everyday home or office use.
